Electric underfloor heating across Sydney, NSW and Canberra
We supply and install electric underfloor heating across 39 council areas in Sydney, surrounding New South Wales and Canberra. We check installer availability before we agree a day. Cables, mats and thermostats can also be ordered on their own and delivered anywhere in Australia. If your job falls outside the areas we install in, we can recommend a subcontractor to do the installation.
Inner West and the city
These five areas run from the Sydney CBD west to Strathfield, and flats outnumber separate houses in every one of them. Across New South Wales the shares are the other way round, 21.7% flats against 65.6% separate houses. What houses remain are Victorian, Federation and inter war, and every one of the five protects large parts of that stock in conservation areas. A July morning averages 8.1°C beside the harbour and 5.8°C out on the Cooks River flats.
Council areas: Burwood, Canada Bay, Inner West, Strathfield and Sydney CBD
Eastern suburbs
Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra sit between the harbour and the ocean, and in all three flats are the majority of homes. Three storey walk up blocks alone account for between 21% and 30% of all homes here, against 5.7% across New South Wales. Much of that stock dates from between the wars, in Art Deco, Spanish Mission and Functionalist styles. A July morning averages 8.1°C at Observatory Hill, which is the nearest long record to all three.
Council areas: Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra
St George and the Sutherland Shire
Bayside, Georges River and the Sutherland Shire follow the water, from Botany Bay around the Georges River to Port Hacking. Separate houses become the norm as you travel south, approaching the 65.6% share recorded across New South Wales. Most of the stock is post war brick and fibro, with Californian bungalows behind the older stations and weatherboard cottages older still. The land climbs from the beaches onto a sandstone plateau, and winter mornings up there run nearly two degrees colder than beside the bay.
Council areas: Bayside, Georges River and Sutherland Shire
North Shore and Northern Beaches
Nine areas run from North Sydney and Mosman along the harbour, up the North Shore and out to the Northern Beaches. Flats are 75.7% of the homes in North Sydney and 21.9% in Hornsby, where separate houses are the rule. Sandstone runs under most of it, so Federation and inter war houses here sit on piers above a deep subfloor rather than on a slab. A July morning drops from 8.1°C beside the harbour to 6.4°C on the Lane Cove River.
Council areas: Hornsby, Hunters Hill, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, Mosman, North Sydney, Northern Beaches, Ryde and Willoughby
Western Sydney
Western Sydney covers seven areas, from Parramatta and Cumberland out to Penrith, the Hawkesbury and the Blue Mountains. All seven sit in climate zone 6 rather than the zone 5 of the coast, and the difference shows up overnight. Observatory Hill records no nights at or below 2°C in an average year, while Richmond has 33 and Mount Boyce above Blackheath has 40. Separate houses dominate everywhere except Parramatta and Cumberland, and salinity is mapped across much of the region.
Council areas: Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Cumberland, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, Penrith and The Hills
South Western Sydney
South Western Sydney runs from Canterbury Bankstown through Liverpool and Fairfield out to Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly. Liverpool and Campbelltown were laid out as Macquarie towns, and Camden's growth areas are among the newest housing in the city. The further from the coast an area sits, the harder its winter. Camden Airport records 40 nights at or below 2°C in an average year, against 8 at Bankstown Airport and none at Observatory Hill.
Council areas: Camden, Campbelltown, Canterbury Bankstown, Fairfield, Liverpool and Wollondilly
Outside Sydney
Six areas sit outside Greater Sydney: the Central Coast, Wollongong, the Southern Highlands, Goulburn, the Shoalhaven and Canberra. The coastal stations at Norah Head, Bellambi and Point Perpendicular record no nights at or below 2°C in an average year. Goulburn Airport records 95 of them and Canberra Airport 93. Separate houses are the rule in all six, and Canberra writes its own building rules rather than following New South Wales.
Council areas: Canberra, Central Coast, Goulburn, Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands and Wollongong

Frequently asked questions about where we install
Which areas do you install underfloor heating in?
We install across 39 council areas in Sydney, surrounding New South Wales and Canberra. Every one of them has its own page on this site, listed below, with the housing and the local conditions that shape the work there. We check with our installer before we agree a day, and that condition travels with every job.
Do you supply materials outside the areas you install in?
Yes. Cables, mats and thermostats are delivered anywhere in Australia, whoever ends up installing them. Every heating product is supplied with its own installation guide, and a customer using their own licensed electrician works to that. Laying it correctly, the testing and the sign off are theirs rather than ours.
What are your hours?
Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5:30pm, and we are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Send us your plans and we will quote the materials, with a separate quote for the installation labour if you want us to do it. Quoting is free, and nothing is ordered until you have accepted.
Is there a page for my suburb?
Yes. Every council area we install in has its own page, listed below. These pages are councils rather than single suburbs, so look for the council you pay your rates to. If your suburb is not obvious from the list, send us the address and we will confirm coverage before we quote.
